Development works in Tumakuru!


  • Three major railway stations in Tumakuru are being upgraded. Tumakuru Railway Station is being redeveloped at an estimated cost of ₹90 crore, and the work is set to commence.
  • Gubbi and Tiptur Railway Stations are being redeveloped under the Prime Minister's Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
  • During the past year, 22 Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Road Under Bridges (RUBs) worth approximately ₹650 crore have been sanctioned in Tumakuru district. The entire cost of these projects will be borne by the Ministry of Railways.
  • Under the Government of India's ADIP Scheme, assistive devices have been distributed to approximately 1,512 Divyangjan (persons with disabilities) in Tumakuru district through hobli-level programmes.
  • During 2024–25, the Government of India procured 315,076 quintals of ball copra from approximately 27,220 coconut farmers in Tumakuru district under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) Scheme. An amount of approximately ₹378.09 crore was directly transferred to farmers' bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), benefiting 27,220 farming families.
  • The Government of Karnataka had recommended procurement of only 2,599 metric tonnes of milling (oil) copra under the MSP Scheme for Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and Hassan districts. Following a representation to the Union Minister of Agriculture, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Tumakuru district was also included, enabling the procurement of a total of 10,500 metric tonnes of milling copra under the Central Government's MSP Scheme.
  • Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme, eligible farmers receive ₹6,000 annually, credited directly to their bank accounts in three equal instalments through DBT.
  • So far, ₹1,044.27 crore has been transferred to 53,857 farmers in Tumakuru district under the PM-KISAN Scheme.
  • As a result of sustained efforts to expedite National Highway projects, works worth nearly ₹4,800 crore have been taken up in Tumakuru district during the past year.
  • The Nelamangala–Tumakuru Six-Lane Highway, which had become notorious for frequent accidents, witnessed 254 accidents over the past three years, resulting in the loss of hundreds of lives. The issue was taken up with the Central Government, leading to the resumption of the project.
  • The Government of India has sanctioned the construction of a 42.26 km two-lane road on National Highway 150A from K.B. Cross to Nelligere.
  • The 50.645 km four-lane road development project on National Highway 206 from Mallasandra to Karadi is 98% complete.
  • Approval has been granted for the 20.20 km four-lane road project on National Highway 69 between Sira and Badavanahalli.
  • Approval has been accorded under the One-Time Road Improvement Programme for the 8.50 km stretch of National Highway 206 passing through Gubbi town on the Tumakuru–Shivamogga route.
  • Approval has also been granted under the One-Time Road Improvement Programme for the 12.30 km stretch of National Highway 206 passing through Tumakuru city on the Tumakuru–Shivamogga route.
  • The long-pending 2.2 km road project near K.B. Cross on National Highway 206 has been revived after resolving differences between the public and the Government.

Grants Released Under Various Centrally Sponsored Schemes:


  • ₹90.974 crore has been sanctioned under the SMI Scheme for the development of lakes in Tumakuru.
  • ₹16 crore has been provided to 5,358 beneficiaries under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM).
  • ₹22.93 crore has been sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY).
  • ₹20.450 crore has been sanctioned under the Poshan Abhiyaan.
  • ₹2.08 crore has been sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY).
  • ₹3.57 crore has been sanctioned under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin).
  • ₹19.85 crore has been sanctioned under the Jal Jeevan Mission, benefiting approximately 391,355 beneficiaries.
  • Land acquisition for the 192 km Tumakuru–Davanagere Railway Line has been completed.
  • Land acquisition for the 113 km Tumakuru–Rayadurg Railway Line has been completed.
  • Construction of 28 Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Road Under Bridges (RUBs) in Tumakuru district, at an estimated cost of ₹1,000 crore, is nearing completion.
  • A Women's Hostel has been sanctioned at Tumakuru University at a cost of ₹20 crore.
  • A Working Women's Hostel is under construction at Vasanthanarasapura at a cost of ₹20 crore.
  • Correspondence has been initiated with the Government of India for establishing a 100-bed ESI Hospital on 5 acres of land at Vasanthanarasapura.
  • Road improvement works under the One-Time Improvement Programme are underway in Tumakuru city at a cost of ₹85.48 crore.
  • A total of 26 projects are being implemented in Tumakuru district by the Ministry of Jal Shakti under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY).
  • Kyathsandra School will be upgraded using Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.
  • Toyota has initiated the construction of 13 purified drinking water units in the Gollarahattis of Gubbi.
  • Construction of a new school building at Thumbadi in Koratagere Taluk, replacing a dilapidated structure, is underway with funding under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS).
